[ R ] Our makeover for SWALLOW Charity is in the latest issue of Net Magazine (229). They are a fantastic charity helping those with learning disabilities, and it was our pleasure to help them with some ideas for a redesign… and more in the future.
ウェブサイトを再度デザインするプロジェクト”メークオーバー”で、学習障害を持つ人たちをサポートするチャリティー団体、SWALLOWのホームページをデザインしました。その内容が Net Magazine(229)の最新号に掲載されています。今回はホームページだけのデザインでしたが、近い将来にウェブサイトを再度デザインしたいと思っています。
[ T ] On our recent trip to Tokyo we had the pleasure of meeting with Yugo Nakamura at his THA studio in Minami-Aoyama. Having an opportunity to catch up with the man behind so many of the most ingenious digital projects in recent years was pretty awe-inspiring. We left in even more admiration of who’s rightly regarded one of the most talented designers in the digital industry.
Before we left Yugo took us around his super slick FRAMED* showroom. Designed by him in collaboration with Yoshihiro Saitoh of A-Study and Taipei-based studio frm ltd, FRAMED* is a cool way of displaying changing digital art to create a translunary and wonderful space through huge ultra slim HD screens. 先日東京へ行ってきたのですが、その際にTHAの代表である中村勇吾氏の南青山にあるオフィスを訪問させていただきました。様々な素晴らしいデジタルデザインのプロジェクトを手がけ、この業界で最も才能のあるデザイナーの１人として認められている中村氏にお会いでき、感激と興奮を交えた何とも言えぬ気持になりました！
また中村氏の手がけるプロジェクト、FRAMED*（オンラインデジタルアートディスプレイ）のショールームも見学させていただきました。中村氏、A-Studyの齊藤良博氏、そして台北をベースにしたスタジオ frm ltdのコラボレーションによりデザインされたFRAMED*によって、スリムなHD大画面を通してデジタルアートを鑑賞することができます。様々な変化をとげるデジタルアートを発信しているFRAMED*が設置されたショールームは、幻想的でとても素敵な空間になっていました。このプロジェクトの詳細はhttp://frm.fm/でチェックできます。
[ T ] A highlight of the past few weeks was a short trip out to Norway as part of the Nokia project. It’s not often there’s an opportunity to travel, and fortunately the only days available overlapped a weekend leaving those days open to explore around Oslo.
Rieko flew out for a couple days, so we checked out the World Snowboarding Championships, before heading up into Nordmarka Forest on the outskirts of Oslo. It’s a cool city, you can get from downtown to the slopes within about half an hour just by traveling out on the subway. If it wasn’t so ridiculously expensive there, we’d love to go back and explore some more.

[ T ] Good times in Bali. We travelled to a place called Medewi on the west coast. The surf for the most part was consistent with nice long rides. After a few days on the coast we headed inland to a place called Bambu Indah (pictured) near Ubud. Really nice place off the tourist path.
バリ島へ行ってきました。今回は西海岸にあるメデウィーは波の質がよく、長い時間波に乗れるのでサーフィンは最高でした。２、３日のサーフィンの後は島の中部、ウブドの近くにあるバンブーインダに滞在。（写真）観光客で混んでなく、素朴、自然、そしてどこか懐かしい感じのする、とても素敵な宿でした。

[ R ] Visiting friends in Corsica. It was a sea urchin season. We picked fresh one from the sea and ate it. It may look weird but very very tasty!! One of the best I ever had.
コルシカ島に住む友達を訪問。ちょうどウニの時期だったので、みんなでウニ狩りへ！獲ったばかりのウニはとても甘く絶品。今まで食べたウニの中で一番美味でした。
[ T ] Thanks to Computer Arts Projects for featuring the Audi Japan project. This was part of a feature of UK designers working abroad called ‘Pastures New’.

[ R ] Visiting St Just in Cornwall for the first time. It is one of the most stunning scenery I have ever seen before!
コーンウォールのセイントジャスト地方へ初めて訪問。緑と青の色が鮮やかで、景色がとても奇麗！
[ T ] The topic of whether Flash is still a viable solution in our industry is hotly debated at the moment. Web Designer magazine asked for a contribution on this topic.
Flashがこの業界で有効なソフトであるかという討論が熱い中、エージェント側からの視点をまとめた内容をWeb Designer雑誌に載せていただきました。
[ T ] As luck would have it, due to severe weather conditions on Saturday, the Ridgeway Randonnee was cancelled! The BHF couldn’t secure insurance and so called the whole thing off.
But that’s not the end of the story…
After making our way down from London in the van (courtesy of Raoul… thanks mate!) and staying the night in Marlborough, we decided to take on the challenge anyway with a handful of other equally bloody-minded riders who showed up regardless.
Once we got on the track it was pretty clear why they’d called it off. Let’s just say it was hardcore… a mixture of pain, misery, fun (in places), and mysteriously eerie landscapes in the rain. Sadly no pics to show from the ride (low on the list of priorities in that weather), but a few before and after:

Total respect to Rieko for completing the 1st half (41 miles) especially on that day. Unfortunately by the time we got to the half way point it was already 4pm and so I decided to call it a day on finishing the 2nd half. I hope you won’t hold that against me too much! :)
